Heeb Magazine interviewed me this week. It was a little difficult establishing trust with the journalist at first, but after I spoke to him at his home in NYC, I decided to go ahead with it even though I had a few reservations. Audacia Ray was kind enough to point me to her great piece on sex workers and the media, which I’d read a long time ago and had completely forgotten about.
As a sex worker, I’m used to the uninformed and uninitiated asking the unintelligent questions. These are usually the same people who ask pregnant women if they can touch their round bellies. At my local community college, I do a presentation on sex work every semester for a couple of sex and gender classes, and there is always, without fail, some skinny little beotch who asks a question along the lines of, “do you have to have sex with really, really old men?” with lips curled like she just discovered a turd in her salad. I’ve become adept at wincing on the inside and giving a thoughtful answer. Still, I have to give props to the writer for being good natured enough to print my responses to some of the more smarmy questions.

CONGRATS!! I like that Heeb mag, even if it’s too hip for me.
I mentioned it in my Jewish fetish post a while back:

PS: Ageism pisses me off. I like the silver foxes!
sweet! i’d totally love to see a presentation from someone as creative as you are.
come to think of it, before my hands become too idle i better put together a lecture circuit or something myself. . . lol
